Naturopathic and Chinese medical treatments can help you quit smoking!
Research shows that it takes approximately 5 weeks to break the smoking habit. The best results for smoking cessation are achieved by having 2 acupuncture treatments per week during the first two weeks and then one treatment per week for the following 3 weeks. In addition, at least one appointment devoted entirely for naturopathic evaluation is necessary. There will be botanical and homeopathic prescriptions as well as nutritional and exercise therapies that will be continued beyond the 5 weeks of managed care.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture will help you deal with the symptoms that often make quitting so difficult, such as anxiety, irritability and cravings. Acupuncture can help to restore balance mentally, physically and emotionally, as you are recovering from nicotine dependence, helping you to feel better as you say no to smoking once and for all. Acupuncture has a high success rate in helping people who are sincerely ready to quit smoking.
Auricular Therapy
Ear acupuncture, also known as auricular therapy, is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Auricular therapy has a long history of use in China. It was mentioned in the most famous of ancient Chinese medical textbooks, “The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine.” One of the most well-known applications of this therapy is in the treatment of addictions. The acupuncture points found on the ear help to regulate the body’s internal organs, structures, and functions. Auricular therapy has been shown to stimulate the release of endorphins, the body’s own feel-good chemicals. Ear acupuncture points may be stimulated for a longer period of time by using ear seeds applied to the ear as a pressure point effect. In an effort to provide more continuous support to an individual who is quitting smoking, ear seeds will be applied at the end of every visit.
Botanical Medicine
Western and Chinese herbal formulas are extremely helpful in supporting individuals in the process of quitting smoking, using some plant medicines that even bind to the same receptors to which nicotine binds. These may come in the form of teas, capsules or tinctures tailored to the individual. Not every smoker responds to the challenge of kicking the habit in the same way. Individualized herbal prescriptions can help decrease cravings for nicotine, alleviate irritability and also help the body to detoxify from the harmful affects of nicotine and tobacco.
Homeopathic Medicine
Homeopathic medicine is a specific system of natural medicine that has been practiced since the 1700s. Homeopathic prescriptions (of either plant, animal or mineral sources) are selected after a consultation that explores the physical and psychological state of the patient, both of which are considered important to selecting the correct homeopathic medicine. The struggle with quitting smoking is multi factorial and unique to each individual and homeopathic prescriptions are another modality that can help decrease the symptoms associated with quitting.
Nutrition & Exercise
Many people worry that they will gain weight when they stop smoking. Through a nutritional consultation we can make an assessment and develop an eating plan that will be most effective for helping you maintain your weight while quitting smoking. Exercise is also crucial for both weight optimization and for long term smoking cessation. Research shows that especially for women, cardiovascular exercise is a very important part of any smoking cessation program.
